Vine cultivation has ancient origins in this area.
It is not a coincidence that there are many legends about the origins of Verdicchio dating back to the times of ancient Romans.
However, the first specialized cultivations date back to the 1950s.
Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC was first produced in 1969.
Montecarotto Winery was built in 1972; Moncaro started investing in order to reach very high quality levels in the second half of the 1980's, especially in vineyards.
The main focus of Montecarotto's winery is the organization for the separate processing of grapes from the various soils.
The extreme care in the winery's work and the most modern technologies are aimed at recreating the conditions needed to obtain high quality white wines. High quality levels are guaranteed by soft pressing with the use of pneumatic presses and the extensive use of temperature control techniques, protection from oxygen and permanence on yeasts.
All three wineries' bottling facilities are located in Montecarotto as well.
Montecarotto winery has 800 hectares of vineyards of which 450 are vineyards of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico. We are in the kingdom of Verdicchio which is undisputed king here and gives the best qualitative results ever. The other cultivated grapes are Malvasia and Trebbiano, which adapts very well to the hills of the area giving very interesting qualitative results.
